The Daniels Fund announced Friday $4.7 million in grants to nonprofit organizations including those serving seniors, youth and the homeless.
Major grant recipients include: Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association; the American Red Cross- Mile High Chapter; Boy Scouts of America – Denver Area Chapter; Colorado Coalition for the Homeless; Special Olympics Colorado; Junior Achievement of Southern Colorado, and University of Colorado Hospital – CeDAR Treatment program.
“These organizations set a high standard for excellence in serving the people of Colorado,” said Linda Childears, president and chief executive of the Daniels Fund. “We are honored to support their efforts to make life better in communities across the state.”
The Daniels Fund said it will award a projected $33 million in grants to nonprofits in 2012.
Funding areas include aging, alcoholism and substance abuse; amateur sports; ethics and integrity in education; homeless and disadvantaged; and youth development.
Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television, established the Daniels Fund to operate the Daniels Fund Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
