GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Garfield County officials are questioning a federal plan to include industrialized areas in a new plan to protect the greater sage grouse on public lands.

Officials say the current plan appears to be working and more time is needed to review the plan.

The new protections include a four-mile buffer zone between oil and gas facilities and sage grouse mating areas.

According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent ( ), county officials contend oil and gas facilities and service roads already crisscross the region.

A draft proposal is due out early next year.
