
Denver will continue to simmer through the holiday weekend, which traditionally signals the end of teh summer.
Denver notched its 65th day this year when the temperatures was at least 90 degrees. This summer eclipsed the record of 61 set in 2000. Normal is 33 days, according to the National Weather Service.
The 90s could continue for two more days.
Saturday’s weather in Denver is expected to mirror Friday’s, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 91 degrees.
On Sunday the city has a 10 percent chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, with a forecast high of 89 degrees.
Skies should be sunny in Denver on Monday — Labor Day — and the high should top out about 87 degrees, then remain in the 80s next week.
In northeast Colorado on the Eastern Plains fire danger will be high because of the prolonged hot, dry weather.
In the mountains, subtropical moisture will bring a chance for afternoon thunderstorms over the weekend. The mountain storms could produce gusty winds and moderate rainfall, the weather service reports.
The Vail forecast calls for high temperature in the lower 70s on Friday and Saturday, with upper-60’s on Sunday and Labor Day. There’s a 30 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday in Vail, with a 40 percent chance on Sunday and 20 percent chance on Monday.
