Arvada police and K-9 dog units from Jefferson County and Denver are searching for two men after they fled a stolen car this morning. A woman who was in the four-door black Honda Civic is in custody.

The men, described as white or Hispanic, “took off on foot,” after an officer tried to stop car said Arvada police spokeswoman Jill McGranahan. “The officer who was behind it called in the plate and realized it was stolen. They stopped the car and jumped out.”

The car was stolen from Westminster.

Police have set up a perimeter and are searching an area between 58th and 52nd avenues from Kipling to Independence streets.

Police alerted residents of the area to the man hunt through a reverse 911 call.

K-9 units from both the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Denver Police department are assisting in the search.

The men are described as of medium build and one is wearing a white shirt and ball cap. The second suspect was dressed in a red shirt with graffiti type lettering, black shorts and red ball cap. He may have changed into a white shirt, McGranahan said.
