Fifteen months after undergoing Tommy John surgery to reconstruct his left elbow, the Rockies’ Jorge De La Rosa finally gets to pitch in a real game.

De La Rosa is scheduled to start a rehab game Wednesday for the Grand Junction Rockies, the franchise’s rookie-league team. The move opens the door for De La Rosa to pitch for the big-league club this season.

“He’s been throwing well and he’s been pain free,” Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said last week.

After the Rockies end their season, De La Rosa will likely pitch in the Arizona Instructional League this fall and possibly in winter ball in Mexico. Those plans are dependent on how De La Rosa responds to an increased work load.

He threw a 45-pitch session to live hitters Saturday at Coors Field, suffering no ill effects except for a sore foot caused by a hot shot off the bat of Jonathan Herrera.

Footnotes.  Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki played another rehab game for Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday, going 0-for-2 with a walk, strikeout and groundout. Tulowitzki made two plays in the field in his five innings, including an unassisted double play to end the second. Tulowitzki is scheduled to play seven innings in the Sky Sox season finale Monday. … Rookie Jordan Pacheco doubled with two outs in the third inning against the Padres on Sunday, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. During the streak, Pacheco is batting .357 (15-for-42) with five doubles and one homer. Patrick Saunders, The Denver Post
