GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The new owners of the former Intermountain Resources sawmill in Montrose say they hope mill operations can resume this month.
The Daily Sentinel reports ( ) the sawmill is now owned by Montrose Forest Products LLC, which is owned by the Wyoming-based Neiman family. Financial details of the deal weren’t revealed, but the newspaper reports the deal takes the plant out of receivership and frees the new managers from burdensome contracts the mill once held.
Jim Neiman of Hulett, Wyo.-based Neiman Enterprises Inc. says he hopes to resume mill operations Sept. 10, depending on log supplies.
Neiman says Montrose Forest Resources will offer jobs to the mill’s 85 to 90 employees. He says about 150 more timber-related jobs will be indirectly preserved by firing up the sawmill again.
