Stanley Fenton Anderson, the owner of Standerson Trucking, Dirt Posse Motorsports and Standerson Mortgage and Financial Corp., has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for scamming 17 individuals out of nearly $1.6 million.

He was sentenced in Adams County District Court for securities fraud.

According to the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, Anderson, 39, promised high rates of return to individuals who invested in his business.

He claimed their money would be used to offer high-interest loans to purchase vehicles as working capital for his trucking company.

He also told investors their money would go to purchase discounted real estate and that those properties would then be rented or sold for a 35 percent return on investment.

Prosecutors said that Anderson used the money for personal expenses and pay off investors.

Prosecutors said that among the victims were John Barrus and his wife Amee of Cody, Wyoming. After John was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, the couple invested approximately $70,000 with Anderson. The money came from charitable donations given to the Barrus’ to help with their mounting medical bills.

Victims also included Deana Rozman of Parker, and her mother Pearl Ames who invested approximately $406,000 to help with Ames’ medical bills.

Ames was living in an assisted-care facility for her Alzheimer’s disease. After being swindled by Anderson, the family could no longer afford to keep Ames in assisted-care and so moved in with them.

John Barrus, Amee Barrus and Pearl Ames have since died.
