Colorado small business employment was flat in August, according to data released Wednesday.

Small businesses nationally added 30,000 jobs, a 0.16 percent increase. The data is based on approximately 83,000 small business customers of Intuit Online Payroll.
The survey looks at trends of the nation’s small businesses with fewer than 20 employees.
The report said that small business revenues are gradually recovering from recessionary depths, but are just now reaching levels seen before the recession began in 2007, according to Intuit Small Revenue Business Revenue Index.
The report said that small businesses nationally overall saw revenue decline in July. The accommodation/food services and retail industries saw the biggest decline at 1.1 percent, followed by the real estate industry at -0.7 percent.
The construction industry saw an increase in revenue in May but saw a decline in June, and again in July of 0.6 percent.
Compensation increased 0.08 percent in August and now is $2,737 per month, compared to the revised July figure of $2,735 per month.
