COLORADO SPRINGS — Fire crews have discovered a small fire in the Mount Herman area where several people reported seeing a plume of smoke, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Jeff Kramer, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said there were several calls about the smoke about 1 p.m. and that firefighters were quickly sent to the area. The fire is located near Mount Herman Road and Forest Service Road 716.
The half-acre fire on U.S. Forest Service land was about 15 percent contained by 5 p.m., officials said.
