came through many months ago in the hours before her set at the Hi-Dive on South Broadway. We’ve been a fan of Gibson for a few years, and her performance during a Portland day party at the Grackle in East Austin was among our favorite moments of this year’s South by Southwest festival. Gibson is a delicate songwriter with a mastery of quiet-to-loud dynamics; lonesome without whine, pained while still sweet and beautiful. The four songs below are lush — “Skin, Warming Skin,” in particular — and they should be listened to with the intimacy of headphones, if possible.
