COLORADO SPRINGS — Trader Joe’s isn’t coming to Colorado Springs until 2014 at the earliest, the company says.
“At this time, we don’t have Colorado Springs in our two-year plan,” Trader Joe’s spokeswoman Alison Mochizuki told The Gazette via e-mail, referring to the rest of this year and 2013.
As a national retailer coming to a new market, because of their sizeable populations and strong household incomes, said Patrick Kerscher, a principal with Springs brokerage Landmark Commercial Group.
Likewise, the retailer probably wants to see how its sales and distribution networks operate before expanding into a so-called secondary market such as Colorado Springs, he said.
