An elderly couple has lost their gold coins in a burglary.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday appealed to the public for any information to help track the culprits.
Three Hispanic males arrived at the couple’s residence, near 70th Avenue and Jennie Drive, on Saturday, Sept. 9, shortly after noon, according to a statement from Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Terrance O’Neill.
The elderly man and woman were trying to sell a camping trailer that they had parked in front. While the woman was showing the trailer to one of the men, another entered through the back door of the residence and snatched three small safes and several pieces of gold jewelry from inside, O’Neill’s statement said.
The safes contained a coin collection: silver dollars, half dollars, 15 gold pieces, and other rare coins. Identification numbers were placed on plastic covers that displayed two of the gold coins: 4006640101 and 1972520101. Anybody with information is asked to contact Detective Robert Hannah at 720-322-1215.
