AURORA, Colo.—The City of Aurora is collecting items left at temporary memorials for victims of a theater shooting on July 20 that left 12 people dead and 58 injured.
City staff and volunteers boxed and labeled toys, words of comfort and other items reflecting sympathy that will be turned over to the Aurora History Museum.
According to KUSA-TV ( ), families will still have access to the items. Family members will also decide if the white crosses which stood at the memorial site will be delivered to their homes or stored in a warehouse.
James Holmes is charged with 142 counts including murder and attempted murder stemming from the shootings that occurred during a Batman movie.
