The federal government has awarded Colorado $329,517 to assist small businesses in the state to export their goods and services.
The money is part of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s State Trade and Export Promotion Grant Program, which is administered in the state by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.
The program has the goals of getting more small businesses to export, and boosting the sales of those that already do so.
Last year, Colorado received $312,000 under the program, which helped 80 small businesses realize $3.5 million in sales and projected sales of $58 million, according to the economic development office.
“This grant will help Colorado small businesses reach new markets to remain competitive, which will help boost local economic development,” said U.S. Senator Michael Bennet in a statement.
