The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation will help a few Overland High School Band and Orchestra members make music to the tune of up to $6,000 in new instruments.
The donation provides two flutes, four alto saxophones, six clarinets and four trumpets, instruments band officials estimate are worth $4,000 and $6,000.
“These instruments will allow students at Overland who would otherwise be unable to participate in the music programs to join the marching band or orchestra,” the Overland High School Band Parents Association said in a media release.
The foundation, created by Michael Kamen, the composer of the 1995 film “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” worked with Colorado Public Radio to make the donation to the Aurora school.
