GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Federal courthouses in Grand Junction and Durango are off the chopping block after U.S. Sen. Mark Udall pleaded their cases during recent closure discussions.
The government recently created a list of 60 federal buildings for possible closure to save money, including Grand Junction and Durango.
According to KREX-TV ( ), Udall sent a letter in March to U.S. District Court Judge Michael Ponsor, chairman of the Committee on Space and Facilities, saying it would be a waste of taxpayer funds and harmful to the communities to close the offices.
