DENVER—The Denver district attorney has filed two charges against a man accused in a crash that killed a 32-year-old pedestrian.
The district attorney’s office said Tuesday that 25-five-year-old Dennis Esquibel is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and vehicular homicide-reckless.
Prosecutors allege that at about 1 a.m. Sept. 23, Esquibel was driving southbound on Broadway at a high rate of speed when he struck Laura McDermott at Cedar Avenue, then fled. A surveillance camera caught an image of the vehicle.
Esquibel’s mother has suggested her son wasn’t the one driving the vehicle.
Esquibel is being held, with bond set at $100,000. He is due to be advised of the charges in court Thursday.
