A man involved in an alleged domestic dispute was fatally shot in Lakewood on Tuesday night.
The incident happened just after 10 p.m. at a home on South Harlan Street just off West 1st Avenue, said Steve Davis, a Lakewood Police Department spokesman.
The victim, who was not identified, went to the home of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, Davis said.
The man allegedly forced his way into the home and there was a confrontation, Davis said, which ended with a shooting.
The shooter, who was not identified, was booked by police and released, Davis said. An investigation is ongoing.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office will make a determination on whether the case falls under self-defense or Colorado ” ” laws.
There were no other injuries, police said.
