DENVER—Internet company eBay has canceled the sale of a Halloween mask of suspected Aurora theater shooting suspect James Holmes.

The unidentified seller was seeking hundreds of dollars for the mask showing showed Holmes with his orange-red hair after he was arrested following the shooting that killed 12 people and left another 58 injured during a July 20 showing of a Batman movie.

The company said in a statement that the listing was removed Friday because it did not comply with the company’s policy barring offensive materials.

“Out of respect for victims of violent crimes, eBay does not allow listings that attempt to profit from human tragedy or suffering,” the company said.
