They ate. They drank. They danced. They figured out who killed “Mr. Body.”
And that about sums up the Denver Public Library’s 15th anniversary Booklovers Ball, the theme for which was Get A Clue.
Get A Clue — which was also a nod to how libraries are a treasure trove of information — challenged guests to determine who did in the fictional Mr. Body, whose “corpse” had been outlined in chalk at the entry to Schlessman Hall at Denver’s Central Library. (Spoiler alert: It was Professor Plum).
Elbra Wedgeworth, chief government and community relations officer for , chaired the black-tie event where 650 guests dined on braised short ribs and Camembert chicken from amongst the stacks and danced to the music of the Hazel Miller Band.
The hosted the event and president Elizabeth Anderman joined City Librarian Shirley Amore and Library Commission president Kevin O’Connor in welcoming a crowd that included pollster Floyd Ciruli and his wife, K.K.; Gov. John Hickenlooper’s chief legal counsel, Jack Finlaw, and his partner, Greg Movesian, executive vice president/resource development for ; former state legislator Rosemary Marshall and her husband, Cle; Mike Roque of ; and corporate committee chairs Joe Nimmons of and Bob Sarlo of .
