CENTENNIAL, Colo.—The judge in the Colorado theater shooting case is delaying a decision on whether to make more information in the case public, including victims’ names.
Judge William Sylvester had originally expected to issue a ruling by Monday on the motion brought by the media. But on Friday he said he wanted to give lawyers a chance to submit more arguments.
The 12 people killed and 58 people injured were identified in the charging document originally filed against suspect James Holmes. Prosecutors now want those names redacted from the document and they haven’t identified the victims associated with 24 new counts of attempted murder filed since then.
The defense and prosecutors also want to keep affidavits, search warrants and witness lists sealed.
Lawyers have until Oct. 22 to submit evidence and briefs under seal.
