COLORADO SPRINGS — Two women died, and a 14-month-old child was hospitalized Monday morning after a sport utility vehicle struck the women in central Colorado Springs.
Barbara Miller, a spokeswoman for the police department, said the child’s mother, Rebecca Lynn Robinson, and her friend Rose Arcuragi were crossing the five-lane North Carefree Circle, pushing the child in a stroller, about 8 a.m.
That’s when a white Toyota Sequoia, driven by Jennifer Eggleton, came from the west and hit the pedestrians, sending the stroller tumbling to the side of the road and terrifying several people in the area near Picturesque Circle west of Oro Blanco Drive.
Robinson and Arcuragi were pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital.
Police said the child was in good condition at Memorial Hospital and was expected to live. Eggleton had not been ticketed Monday afternoon, and police are investigating whether charges will be filed.
