GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Garfield County commissioners have agreed to drop a resolution supporting oil shale development following complaints the agreement was drafted in secret.

The settlement resolves a dispute with the Grand Valley Citizens Alliance, which filed a lawsuit claiming the meeting violated Colorado open meetings laws.

The alliance alleges that during a meeting in March in Vernal, Utah, the commissioners drafted a joint resolution supporting oil shale development.

According to KREX-TV (), Garfield County commissioners denied violating the law, but said they wanted to resolve the issue quickly.
