Warm weather will continue through the weekend, potentially complicating firefighting efforts across the state while giving residents a chance to get outside at least once more before another Colorado winter arrives.

Temperatures in Denver will approach 80 degrees Saturday before dropping slightly to around 70 degrees Sunday. Similar sunny conditions are expected to stick around through the middle of next week ahead of a slight cool down Wednesday.

“It’s certainly well above normal,” said Frank Cooper of the National Weather Service in Boulder.

The average temperature along the Front Range for this time of year is in the low 60s.

Cooper said winds are expected to be light and variable along the Front Range with some gusty conditions in the mountains — a far cry from the storm that blew through the Denver area this week, uprooting trees and knocking out power to thousands.

With the warm and dry conditions, he said fire risk will be elevated, though not dangerous enough to issue a fire weather statement.

Temperatures around Aspen and Breckenridge are expected to hit 60 degrees this weekend and drop to freezing overnight.

Front Range lows will remain in the mid 40s.

With Halloween less than two weeks away, Cooper was hesitant to make a definite prediction, though he said there are no big weather systems anticipated for the next 10 days. Temperatures, he said, are expected to be “pretty normal” — about 60 degrees.
