FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Larimer County sheriff’s officials say a man has died after trading gunfire with deputies in Glacier View.

The sheriff’s office said in a release Saturday that the unidentified man had pointed a handgun at deputies who were responding to a call about an armed man.

The office says a woman had made the call late Friday to report her former boyfriend was at her home and needed medical attention. She later told authorities that he had left her home with the gun.

Authorities say the man and a responding deputy opened fire once, and that the man was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not immediately clear who fired the fatal shot.

The sheriff’s office says an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
