ASPEN, Colo.—Industrialist Bill Koch has told Aspen Mayor Mick Ireland he isn’t welcome to attend the dedication of an Aspen Skiing Co.-financed project that produces electricity from methane vented from one of Koch’s coal mines.
Ireland has condemned Koch for allegedly funding opposition to the city of Aspen’s proposed hydroelectric plant on Castle Creek. Aspen residents will cast an advisory vote on the project Tuesday.
According to the Aspen Times ( ), Ireland supports the methane project, but he has agreed to stay away from the event on Nov. 9.
A spokesman for the mining company could not be reached for comment.
