DENVER—A state Senate candidate has filed a federal lawsuit challenging Denver zoning rules that limit the size of campaign signs.

Republican Michael Carr says city rules limiting political signs to 8 square feet violate his free speech rights.

Carr faces a maximum fine of about $1,000 and one year in jail for refusing to comply with the zoning ordinance.

According to the Denver Post ( ), Denver is reviewing its rules and has delayed enforcement until the case is settled.
