ASPEN, Colo.—A Western Slope wildlife foundation that rehabilitates injured or orphaned animals is getting a larger grant than expected.
Pitkin County’s citizen grant review committee had recommended that the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation receive $500 for operations next year. The foundation, based in Silt, had requested $5,000.
The Aspen Daily News reports () that after the foundation contested the recommendation, county commissioners agreed Tuesday to award the foundation a $3,000 grant from the county’s Healthy Community Fund.
