BOULDER, Colo.—Prosecutors in Colorado are weighing their options after Boulder County became the first in the state to drop pending marijuana possession cases in the wake of a public vote to legalize the drug.
Routt County District Attorney Brett Barkey said Thursday his office will continue processing the handful of pending petty pot cases in his jurisdiction.
In Grand Junction, police officers have been told to stop issuing ounce-or-less marijuana tickets, according to police documents obtained by The Daily Sentinel ().
Denver prosecutors will no longer charge those 21 and older with less than an ounce and will review pending cases for possible dismissal.
But Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck said Thursday his office wouldn’t drop possession cases, citing obligation to the law and helping addicts find treatment.
