WINDSOR, Colo.—Prosecutors have filed assault and harassment charges against a school principal accused of punching his wife and breaking one of her ribs.
Fifty-six-year-old Doug Englert, principal of Windsor Middle School, is accused of striking his wife in an argument on Nov. 6.
The Greeley Tribune reports ( ) Weld County prosecutors filed charges Monday. Englert didn’t immediately return a voice message left at his home.
An arrest warrant affidavit says Englert’s wife told police they were arguing over who was supposed to pick up their son from a friend’s house. She says she punched Englert when he became aggressive, and he punched her in the side three times.
Police say the son was in the house but wasn’t hurt.
The Windsor-Severance School District has placed Englert on paid leave.
