ESTES PARK, Colo.—Rocky Mountain National Park officials say the long-running Fern Lake Fire has grown to about 1.8 square miles and is producing more smoke.
Larry Frederick, the park’s chief of interpretation and education, said Friday that dry conditions and unseasonably warm temperatures caused the growth on Thanksgiving Day.
The fire started on Oct. 9 and was about 1.6 square miles in late October.
Crews are monitoring the fire.
