It might have been who pioneered “wizard rock,” but 90-year-old actor is showcasing his own kind of rock with the holiday record “A Heavy Metal Christmas.” Seems there’s more than a few lately.

The actor is known for playing the evil, power-hungry wizard Saruman in “” and “” film trilogies. His two-song holiday set includes covers of “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Silent Night.” This is not the dark lord’s first foray into the heavy metal world — in 2010 Lee released another heavy metal album called, “Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross.”

Keeping with the overall trend of the “Lord of the Rings” franchise, a sequel to that album is due out in 2013. Here’s hoping he makes it to 91.
