A 73-year-old man was killed New Year’s Day when he was struck by a car as he was walking across Highway 340 in Grand Junction.

The accident victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to trooper Bonnie Collins, Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman.

The 68-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Uplander was not injured in the crash, according to Collins.

The Uplander was going east on Highway 340 at about 5:50 p.m. when it rammed the 73-year-old man walking south across the highway.
