So when DeMarco tells the Onion’s A/V Club that he and his band just learned ‘s “Sweater Song” on the drive down, you can’t help but smile a little. Then they start playing, and you believe it.
DeMarco’s take on the Weezer mainstay is characteristically ragtag, and it sort of works. It harkens back to Weezer’s heydays, when ripped jeans and alt-rock ruled the land. In Mac DeMarco’s world, those days may have yet to pass.
