DENVER—A man accused in a hit-and-run crash that killed a University of Denver graduate student from Iran has been convicted of two charges.

Denver prosecutors say 46-year-old Andrew Simpson was convicted Wednesday of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Prosecutors say Simpson ran a red light at University Boulevard and Evans Avenue on May 31 and struck engineering student Masoud Bahramisharif (mah- SOOD’ / bah-RAM-e-sha-REEF’), who was on his bicycle. Bahramisharif was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Simpson faces up to 18 years in prison at a sentencing hearing scheduled for March 28.
