Keith Burns, a longtime special teams player for Mike Shanahan, is now Shanahan’s special teams coordinator.
Burns, 40, was hired Monday by Shanahan-coached Washington to become their special teams coordinator.
A standout linebacker at Oklahoma State, Burns was a seventh-round draft choice of the Broncos in 1994.
He played for the Broncos from 1994-98, 2000-03 and 2005-06. He also played for Chicago in 1999 and Tampa Bay in 2004. He had 231 special teams tackles in his 13-year NFL playing career.
He served as the Broncos’ assistant special teams coordinator since 2007.
