Becoming an ophthalmic medical technician or a respiratory therapist are medical career paths that combine patient care and technology into one exciting profession.

Ophthalmic medical technicians work with ophthalmologists and assist in surgeries and procedures. They perform all pre-surgical diagnostics and use some of the most advanced technologies available, like ophthalmic digital photography and ultrasound- and light-based imaging equipment.

Pima Medical Institute is the only college that offers the Ophthalmic Medical Technician program in Colorado or the surrounding states. In less than two years, you can earn an associate degree and be eligible to apply to sit for the national certification exam, which can help you land a job at a hospital, private practice, LASIK vision center or elsewhere.

As a respiratory therapist, you will evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. You can work on the front lines of patient care as one of the first responders in the emergency room. You can also help patients find solutions for long-term disorders.

Your training at Pima Medical can prepare you for entry-level positions at hospitals, long-term care facilities and other health care offices in just under two years. Once you graduate, you’ll be eligible to sit for the national certification exam to become a registered respiratory therapist.
