The first stage of any true “festival experience” is spending months trying to be the first to figure out who is going to be on the lineup. Like last month, the 2013 lineup is the subject of much amateur sleuthing and detective work. The difference with Bonnaroo is that the festival has what it calls the “clue campaign,” where organizers give rabid fans of the Manchester, Tenn., music fest hints to who will be there.
Here are the top 5 Bonnaroo 2013 lineup rumors and the chances of these rumors coming true.
5) Mumford & Sons, seems possible
in Colorado at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It reads “Eleven Months Wait, For Entry to the Prestige, The First Rejected.” Nice job all you English majors itap a haiku. But that doesn’t help because every clue has been a haiku. Honestly, the good people at Bonnaroo like to make these clues so vague that one can never be completely certain who they are talking about. But many little Nancy Drews think this particular one points to . that M&F released a DVD last month about the road to Red Rocks and were up for a number of awards at the prestigious Grammys. The band did play Bonnaroo in 2011 and people went nuts.
4) Wu-Tang Clan, two festivals in one year?
about Wu-Tang Clan and a possible tour as a group, RZA said, “got a call from Bonnaroo and Coachella. So it means the energy is out there, and I think Lollapalooza is thinking about it as well. So this is one of those years that could be a great year for the Clan.” Interpret that how you wish, but after saying this, it was announced that Wu Maybe it will bode well for Bonnaroo 2013 as well.
3) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, why not?
Petty has already headlined the festival in 2006, but who’s to say he couldn’t come back for more? the Bonnaroo 2012 lineup, and says it has once again predicted Tom Petty. Why should we believe this blog? They don’t really give any particular reason other than rather smug references to Watergate. A number of other blogs seemed to have picked up this rumor and run with it and many of the fake Bonnaroo posters that have already circulated seem confident it will be Petty. With no 2013 dates announced yet, one can never be so certain.
2) The Who, it would be a stretch
This one seems like even more of a stretch than Mumford & Sons. T “Rising sun of man, The future was less certain, Human Contact is gone.” One , “The Who performing Quadrophenia.
Rising Son of Man – Jimmy growing up in his parents house before he leaves home. The Future Was Less Certain – Jimmy running from home and not being able to find a new one/everything letting him down time after time Human Contact is Gone – Jimmy stranded alone on the rock in Love Reign O’er Me.” Now the band will be in the U.K. in June, though it does
1) Paul McCartney, people seem confident
Paul McCartney is set to headline the festival. This wouldn’t be entirely out of the question, seeing as Bonnaroo has historically called upon a classic rock act to anchor the show. Many other blogs and rumor sites seem almost certain that McCartney will be playing on Saturday night. Itap kind of hard to tell for sure, seeing as McCartney h
