3) Furthur, Feb. 21 – 24, Ogden Theatre & 1stBank Center, $55 – $65
Jam music has a passionate following in the Rocky Mountain region, which explains the slew of jam-oriented New Year’s Eve shows six weeks ago. Now, just a few months later, are four consecutive shows in Colorado. This run of shows by the jam band fronted by former Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir — which performs a mix of Grateful Dead tunes and original material — kicks off at the intimate Ogden Theatre on Thursday. And as you would imagine, the show is sold out. Tickets, $55-$65, are still available for the band’s larger shows at the 1stBank Center from Feb. 22-24.
2) Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, Feb. 15, Hi-Dive, $10
Between that come through Denver, and a place on the lineup of local and national festivals, likes to stay active. That’s why it’s nice to catch SRRS at some of the more intimate spaces, like the Hi-Dive, where the band plays on Friday. It’s always a good time to catch the darkness of the band, and for a good price this show is a great way to kick off your weekend (unless you already kicked it off on Thursday, which is totally fine).
1) Morrissey, Feb. 21, Buell Theatre, $80 – $310
Itap really been a long, dramatic wait for Denver’s fans since the former Smiths frontman announced his show back in June of 2012. He was originally scheduled to play in Colorado on Nov. 3 but postponed it to take care of his sick mother. Earlier this month, Morrissey postponed seven more dates in February, but luckily his show at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre on Thursday is safe — barely. So after all that stress, Moz is actually playing here, and hopefully the wait will be worth it to see the cult British singer. Tickets are still available from ticketmaster.com and range from $80-$310. Just keep your fingers crossed that there’s no more bad luck.
