A shed behind a house in Lakewood blew up and caught fire Saturday evening, sending three people to the hospital.
The cause of the explosion, at 1643 S. Ammons St., is still being investigated, said Detective Ryan McKone, a spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.
Narcotic and hazardous materials investigators are looking into what caused the explosion, which was reported to authorities at 8:32 p.m.
“It is not a meth lab,” said McKone.
McKone said he didn’t have information on the extent of the injuries of those hurt or whether they were inside the shed when it exploded.
“They were close enough to be injured,” he said.
No other structures were damaged in the fire, which has been put out, he said.
