DENVER—The Denver Post, The (Grand Junction) Daily Sentinel and The Durango Herald won first Place: for general excellence in their respective categories Friday in the annual Colorado Associated Press Editors & Reporters contest.
Best of Show was awarded to Jerilee Bennett and The (Colorado Springs) Gazette for the general news photo, “The President’s Shoes.”
The contest encompassed work printed in Colorado’s AP member newspapers from Sept. 1, 2011, through Aug. 31, 2012.
Awards were presented in three divisions: Division I for papers under 15,000 circulation; Division II for circulation between 15,000 and 30,000; and Division III for circulation over 30,000.
