PUEBLO, Colo.—A 21-year-old man charged in a fatal shooting at a Pueblo park has been sentenced to 42 years in prison.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports ( ) District Judge David Crockenberg sentenced Devin Downey on Friday for the Feb. 12, 2011, death of 45-year-old Pedro Solis-Astorga. Downey struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Police say he was smoking marijuana in the park when Solis-Astorga approached him. Investigators also suggested Downey shot the man because he wanted to avoid the disclosure of his sexual activities in the park.
