If you’re not already in Austin, Tex. for SXSW, or not going to SXSW, don’t worry there’s quite a bit in the way of music this week. We’ve got two festivals going on this weekend, young, southern Grammy nominees in town, and one of Denver’s most upcoming bands making a big homecoming at the Ogden Theatre. 4) SnowBall Music Festival, Winter Park, Friday-Sunday, $164-$449

Spending a weekend facing mountain temperatures in early March is a small price to pay to see acts such as Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus and Portugal. The Man at . The third festival starts on Friday in Winter Park for three days of music and more than 50 bands. Tickets are still available and range from $164-$449. Other acts include, Pretty Lights, STS9 and Big Gigantic.

3) Gathering of the Clouds, Walnut Room, Friday-Sunday, $17-$50

If one music festival wasn’t enough for one weekend, or if you aren’t willing to be cold or drive to the mountains, is another option here in the city. Launched by Denver-rooted musician Kurt Ottaway, Gathering of the Clouds is a community festival that includes local and national acts such as the Morning Clouds, the Black Ryder, Gliss, the Warlocks and more. Call it atmospheric rock or psych rock or whatever, but it’s going to be a good weekend at the Walnut Room. Tickets are $17 per day in advance, $20 dollars the day of show and $50 for three-day passes.

2) Churchill, Ogden Theatre, Friday, $20-$22

This is quite the homecoming for Denver’s . Since the band embarked on a U.S. tour two months ago, Churchill made its network TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel and announced a European arena tour with Pink for this summer. This buzz is thanks to Churchill’s single “Change” owning the radio for the past few months. Just ahead of the band’s first full-length album on A&M Octone, Churchill will debut some new songs at Friday’s show at the Ogden Theatre. Let’s see what the limelight has done to Churchill’s live performance and show some hometown love before the band’s big months ahead. ($20-$22, ogdentheater.com)

1) Alabama Shakes, Ogden Theatre, Saturday, $36

With so many bands out there putting on the facade of an Americana, Southern roots band, it’s nice to see one take off that’s genuine. was formed in a town where only musical underdogs can come from — Athens, Ala.. Through the power of lead singer Brittany Howard’s voice, the band caught the attention of Jack White and then the Grammys, with three nominations this year. Look no further than the band’s recent “Saturday Night Live” performance for an excuse to see them at the Ogden Theatre on Saturday. ($36, ogdentheater.com)
