A man found hanging in his cell at the Jefferson County Detention Facility was pronounced dead late Thursday.
The 24-year-old man was a Department of Corrections prisoner awaiting a court proceeding. His name will not be released until his family is notified, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the death, which appears to be a suicide.
