GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction is dropping plastic water bottles to protect the environment.
Monument spokesman Nick Myers says a huge percentage of the park’s waste is related to plastic water bottles in trash cans and along the roadways.
Meyers tells KJCT-TV ( ) the monument has one water re-fill station at the visitor center and there are plans to install a second by April.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own re-fill water bottles to the park. If they forget to bring one, there are reusable bottles available for purchase.
