GREELEY, Colo.—An 18-year-old Greeley man has been sentenced to three years in a community corrections program over his younger brother’s shooting death.
Jordan Limas pleaded guilty in January to criminally negligent homicide in the shooting of 11-year-old Andre Limas.
The Greeley Tribune reports () the Limas family asked for a probation sentence, but Weld County District Judge Thomas Quammen said Monday that probation wouldn’t be a stringent enough sentence for the crime.
Jordan Limas told police he had left a loaded gun on a table in his home in September, and Andre took it. Investigators say the gun went off while Jordan Limas was trying to get it back from his brother.
