Mountain Vista’s upset of No. 1 Cherry Creek last week has changed the landscape of the Class 5A baseball rankings this week.
The Golden Eagles, who were unranked at the time of Thursday’s win, jumped into the Denver Post coaches poll at No. 2. Cherry Creek dropped to No. 3 — and Pine Creek took over the top spot.
The 5A poll also added Chatfield (No. 7) and Brighton (No. 10) this week.
There’s also a new team atop the 4A ranking: D’Evelyn. Former No. 1 Broomfield lost to Pueblo West last week and dropped to No. 4. Pueblo West went from seventh to second.
The 4A ranking added Cheyenne Mountain (No. 8), Palisade (No. 9) and Skyline (No. 10) this week.
