COLORADO AT CALGARY
8 p.m. Wednesday, ALT; 950 AM, 104.3 FM
Spotlight on Miikka Kiprusoff: The longtime Flames goalie’s name has popped up in some trade rumors lately. He remains a good netminder who probably would fetch quite a lot. Kiprusoff missed some time recently with a knee injury, but is healthy again. He has always played tough against the Avs. His salary cap hit is $5.8 million, and he has another year left on his deal.
NOTEBOOK
Avalanche: Semyon Varlamov is expected to get the start in goal for the Avs, who have lost six of their past seven games. … Colorado has allowed the first goal in 10 of its past 11 games and 22-of-31 overall. … Avs prospect Joey Hishon recorded his first career pro point — an assist — over the weekend for Lake Erie, and also scored the deciding goal in a shootout victory for the Monsters.
