DENVER—A man convicted of killing an Iranian University of Denver student in a hit-and-run crash has received the maximum sentence.

Andrew Simpson was sentenced Thursday in Denver to 18 years in prison.

Police say Masoud Bahramisharif (mah- SOOD’ – bah-RAM-e-sha-REEF’) was walking his bicycle across an intersection last May when a driver ran a red light and struck him. Bahramisharif was a graduate student at the University of Denver.
