HILO, Hawaii—Police have identified a man who drowned on the Big Island.
Police say the man who died on March 23 was 37-year-old Patrick Corbett of Gunnison, Colo.
Police say they got a report that there was a swimmer in distress at Orr’s Beach in Puna. An investigation revealed that Corbett had been jumping off cliffs into the water when he became caught in a current and pulled under.
Fire Department personnel retrieved him from the water. He was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
